Our criteria for natural Ethiopian coffees is typically "blueberry, blueberry, and more blueberry." But this offering from the Arfasa Smallholder Coffees Cooperative is offering that and more! The classic Ethiopian blueberry note is complemented by vanilla, milk chocolate and a silky body. This one is must-try.
Specialty coffees in Sidamo are grown in small villages called "kebeles." The growing conditions are nearly ideal for coffee cultivation - high altitude, ample rainfall, and rich soil give the plants everything they need before processing at local washing stations such as Shefina - where this coffee was processed by Arfasa. Arfasa - a local cooperative based in Sidamo - helps farmers negotiate price premiums based on quality and traceability while encouraging measurable environmental sustainability standards.
