Ethiopian coffee is always in high demand and this is our first selection of the season. The standout is the jammy mouthfeel and mixed berry fruit tones. Add it all together and we're tasting a delicious berry jam reminiscent of the spread we put on our bagels!
Decades ago, everyone considered Hambella too cold for coffee growing. Fortunately, everyone forgot to tell Mr. Genale. Undeterred by conventional wisdom and some early setbacks, Genale is the first farmer to plant coffee in the entire Buku region, including Buku Abel, Buku Saisa, and Buku Hurufa. It all started about 31 years ago when he was on a Bible study trip to Yirgacheffe. Yirgacheffe is about 60 kilometers away, but back then, it took over a day to reach by foot. Undeterred, Mr. Genale brought some seedlings with him and tried them out in his garden. After countless trials and errors, he finally succeeded.
These days Mr. Genale runs 20 hectares of land, complete with his own drying beds. His gorgeous coffee is renowned for wonderful flavors, bursting with berry and chocolate notes.
