"Balanced and complex." That was our takeaway from the cupping table. There is a lot going on here but we think the raspberry and molasses are the stars of the show. But don't miss the subtle earth tones either! And also the vibrant acidity! Wow, there's a lot to explore. Shoot us a line and let us know what you're tasting.
This is a community lot, bringing together beans from 65 washing stations and more than 80,000 smallholder farmers across Rwanda. Rather than coming from a single site, this annual blend is the handiwork of the entire Rwanda Trading Company network. Grown at elevations ranging from 1,400 to 1,900 meters—where cooler temperatures and high-altitude conditions yield exceptional clarity—these Bourbon and Typica peaberries are fully washed, then sun-dried on raised beds for 15–20 days.
Per Balzac Brothers Importers, "Rwanda Trading Company, established in 2009, exists to create lasting social impact. By owning and operating sixteen wet-milling stations and working directly with farmers on every step—buying, processing, and marketing their coffees—RTC ensures transparency and resilience throughout the supply chain. Profits generated here are reinvested into agribusiness training programs, leading to greater economic security and opportunity for Rwandan producers. Kigali Inzovu Peaberry is a testament to the power of community and collaboration, supporting thousands of farming families while delivering a cup that’s remarkably consistent from year to year."
