A classic washed Yirgacheffe, and a gorgeous one. Orange blossom and berry - we're thinking strawberry - jump out of the bag, and the cup is action packed with more: peach and watermelon over a base of honey and chocolate. The cup finishes with honeydew, blueberry, lime, and a touch of jasmine.
Chelba is a washing station named for the nearby village of Chelba, about 12 km from Yirgacheffe town. More than 800 smallholder producers, most farming around two hectares, deliver cherry from within a three-kilometer radius. As is typical in Ethiopia, the station blends that cherry into day lots, washes it, and dries it on raised beds. Farmers in this area generally don't use fertilizers or pesticides.
